Our client, an energy solutions provider delivering cutting edge solutions to rural communities in Ghana is looking to engage a highly experienced sales professional as Deputy Head of Sales

Description

JOB PURPOSE

To drive sales and maximise sales production through the Direct Sales Channel in a scalable and effective manner through the coordination and management of an efficient Direct Sales Team within the country of operation.

Key Performance Areas

1. Direct Sales Management

  • Participate in the setting of direct sales targets in consultation with the Head: Direct Sales as per Business Plan
  • Collaborate with the Head: Direct Sales to set up teams to deliver on sales targets
  • Monitor day-to-day sales operations by tracking daily sales targets and activities and devise interventions for sales which are lagging
  • Participate in weekly and monthly sales team meetings to discuss delivery on sales targets, identify and resolve operational problems
  • Provide daily feedback on sales targets to Head: Direct Sales to monitor sales performance and to identify and devise interventions
  • Conduct field evaluations and spot checks to evaluate sales process conformity and to identify training / upskilling interventions required
  • Participate in quarterly meetings with Platform team to review sales performance and come up with the necessary adjustments, as instructed by the Head: Direct Sales
  • Support the Head: Direct Sales to manage the execution of the credit process, identify trends and make the necessary adjustments in consultation with the relevant stakeholders through problem diagnosis and identification of interventions
  • Monitor customer satisfaction score and devise interventions to improve ratings
  • Ensure new recruits are embedded effectively

2. Inventory Management

  • Prepare and consolidate a weekly inventory reconciliation for all staff and contractors within the geographical area of operation
  • Reinforce control over damages and losses for inventory accounts within the geographical area of operation
  • Participate in designing, improving, and implementing strategies to improve last mile inventory efficiency

3. People Management

  • Participate in the recruitment of team members in collaboration with Head: Direct Sales and Human Resources Department
  • Manage the performance of direct reports, ensuring agreement of annual goals, measuring performance against agreed goals and dealing with areas of non-performance
  • Manage the development of staff and identify training interventions in support of career development
  • Input into the development of succession plans for the department in consultation with the Head: Direct Sales
  • Coach and mentor team members to foster personal growth and teamwork
  • Approve leave, leave, subsistence and travel expenses as per delegation of authority
  • Provide updates to the HR Department on any location changes of team members
  • Monitor the management of documentation to ensure availability and ease of retrieval at all times
  • Responsible for compiling and managing all promotions and PIP documentations and processes in a timely manner

4. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Participate in weekly Core Team Meetings and monthly Performance Review Meetings
  • Participate in the engagement with Platform teams to address operational matters and make recommendations on problem resolutions
  • Communicate daily with the Head: Direct Sales to provide the necessary updates on day-to-day sales operations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with staff / team members to ensure business continuity and smooth running of operations
  • Liaise with senior visitors (both internal and external) to communicate information on business operations and for conducting field visits
  • Manage engagements with authorities, councilors and elective representatives
  • Attend monthly SLA meetings and support the collaboration across functions to ensure smooth zonal operations, identify and solve cross functional challenges and escalate issues, as and when required

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Commerce or equivalent. Relevant post graduate qualification e.g. MBA would be advantageous
  • Professional qualification in Sales / Customer Service
  • 6 years’ experience in a sales environment at a supervisory / management level·        
  • Experience in expansion into new terrains would be advantageous
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Ideal candidate must be very vibrant and energetic
