Synopsis

Our client, an international player in power and energy solutions is looking for an experienced and innovative procurement professional with excellent team skills to join its team as Procurement and Stores Manager

Description

  1. Responsible for preparing purchase orders, responding to customer and supplier inquiries, reviewing requisition orders to verify accuracy, specifications and terminology, and comparing prices, specifications and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers
  2. Responsible to prepare, maintain and review purchasing files, report price lists, track the status of requisitions, contracts and orders, locate suppliers, approve bills for payment, monitor contractor performance, calculate the cost of orders, charge or forward invoices to the appropriate accounts, and monitor in-house inventory transfer forms for bookkeeping records.
  3. Responsible for negotiating prices with suppliers as well as following up on suppliers concerning delivery dates.
  4. Responsible to liaise with the Finance Department to ensure that vendors’ payment are done per the terms contract and avoid penalty for overdue invoices.
  5. Ascertain that any items to be shipped via Air Freight  Make every attempt to place purchase orders in a timely fashion that will eliminate the need for costly shipment methods.      
  6. Oversee the inventory function and month-end quantity reports issued  are accurate and issued promptly for incorporation into final monthly accounting statements.
  7. Ensure proper use and effectiveness of the storeroom’s “Bar Coding System”.
  8. Guarantee that proper security is maintained within and around the warehouse and proper inventory record keeping.
  9. Coordinate identification of items, vetting and verification of vendors, comparison of quotations and recommending for final approval to upper management all annual blanket purchase orders.
  10. Quantify Annual Plant Service Contract requirements, conduct bidding process, recommend to upper management successful bidder, and liaison between the Company and the Service Contractor throughout the term of the contract.
  11. Oversee and direct the routine of subordinate staff
  12. Discharge of all assigned duties to meet deadlines and targets
  13. Responsible for ensuring the safe and secure custody of all stock and inventory 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement / Logistics / Inventory Management
  • Professional / Masters Procurement / Logistics an added Advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Procurement / Inventory / Logistic Management.
  • Excellent demonstrable leadership skill
  • Resolute in critical decisions and taking due diligence in every decision
  • Excellent networking ability
  • Excellent report writing skills and an effective communicator
